My name is Jessica Stahle, but you can just call me Jess (everyone does). I'm an herbalist and direct entry midwife based out of North Salt Lake, Utah.
Making the decision to have a VBAC at home instead of an elective cesarean really is what turned me into the midwife I am today. I devoured every book on pregnancy and birth I could get my hands on in preparation for my daughter Robin's birth. After she was born, I soon found myself diving into any class on birth I could find, training as a doula and childbirth mentor through Birthing From Within and The Nurturing Place. In July 2007, I began my apprenticeship and have been surrounded by babies and bellies ever since.
For most of my life I have studied and used herbs and other complimentary remedies and therapies. My primary focus has been the study of plant medicine through various workshops, courses, and hands-on clinical experience. I am currently enrolled in the East West School of Planetary Herbology, Herbal Medicine for Women, and The Science and Art of Herbology to continue to deepen my knowledge.
I'm passionate about education, whether that's of future midwives or helping others to learn how to heal themselves. Outside of classes I teach through Quirky Mama Apothecary, I also teach at local midwifery schools, student groups, and speak around the community on a variety of subjects surrounding herbology and reproductive health.
